Nickelodeon Dell Inspiron Mini targets kids

If the Disney Asus netbooks weren’t something you could see your kids using, you might like the Dell Inspiron Mini designed for kids.  These seem to be better suited for an age range slightly older than the Disney Asus.  Plus it will allow for you to not only compare looks between the laptops, but also choose the one you’re going to trust the most.  All the while not having to sacrifice portability, since both are small designs. The Dell Mini will now has designs based on Nickelodeon’s Signature Slime and shows like SpongeBob SquarePants and iCarly.  Much like the Asus netbooks, these will have extra software to make sure that the laptop is safe for kids to use.   The laptop itself has a 10.1” display, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive, an external DVD drive and then various other optional things that can be added to them. The biggest difference I see between this one and the Asus kid-friendly netbook is that Asus was sure to mention durability that would make it alright for a kid to drop the laptop on occasion.  It may be that the Dell is durable enough to handle it, but it is a concern that they don’t really touch on that issue.  These will be hitting store shelves this October and you’ll probably see more pricing information at that time.
