Reading in bed is a soothing way to unwind from a long day for many people. With this booklight, you’ll no longer have a need for a bookmark, nor will your book have any dog eared pages. Just place your current book right on top of the light and you have yourself an interesting way to keep track of what page you’re on. The light uses a low energy 11 watt bulb. Which means you can leave your book on the light all night long and the bulb will never get hot enough to damage the book. Just plug the light into the wall and it will give you a soft light to read by. The dim light would be great to help slow your brain down a little. Unfortunately, right now the light isn’t available through the Firebox US site. That means that unless you’re in the UK you may be out of luck. The price is set at £39.95 and if they come in stock for the US again, they’ll cost you $64. Source: RGS Tech Cult – We cover the latest tech news, but always with a funny twist

Google Goggles are the eyes of the future
Many of the book lights attach to your book itself. One thing I’ve never liked about that is that I feel like I’m constantly shifting the light when I turn a page or just need to see a different side of the page. Now whether or not this HUGlight is the solution for that is debatable. Yes, it is a bit silly looking but the design would illuminate both pages without having to move it at all. The device drapes over your neck, which might feel awkward and uncomfortable for some people. However, if you don’t think that’s going to be an issue, then it’s not too bad. The flexible wire arm is 9 inches long and covered in a soft foam. The foam would help make it more comfortable. It has a 40 hour battery light and uses 4 LED lights. The HUGlight can be purchased for $14.95 through Amazon .

The Sandford police department from the film Hot Fuzz would definitely appreciate this particular device. Some of you might remember the “swear jar” that the clueless cops kept there, and the terrific scene where Nick Angel (Simon Pegg) fills it up when he vents his frustration against the other officers’ ignorance

Any toy that teaches kids about alternative energy in a way that makes it fun for them is definitely okay in my book. I’ve seen some that are kits and a bit more complicated. Honestly, I think that this car is one of the best approaches I’ve seen. It goes for the subtle angle, it’s a fun remote control car and doesn’t need a single battery to run. Even kids know the joys of searching for batteries in the house so that their treasured battery-operated toys will work. Explaining to them that this doesn’t need any and why, is a fantastic way to teach them about renewable energy. The car itself actually runs on zero-emission hydrogen fuel. It also utilizes solar energy, so it’ll teach them about a couple of different methods. It can be purchased for $147.95 through Amazon . E-book readers are getting more and more popular, as it sure as heck beats carrying a tome around with you wherever you go, and there is no need to dump the book at a second hand bookshop once you’ve arrived at your destination. E-books also help save paper in the long run, and would be even better if they could be charged using renewable energy sources such as solar power. Spring Design is back with a brand new e-book reader known as Alex, where it will be the first of such devices powered by Google Android that boasts full browser capabilities and patented dual screen interaction technology known as the Duet Navigator

Gadgets typically look like, well, gadgets. They look shiny, new and a combination of plastic and metal. Being someone that not only adores old looking technology (almost antique in appearance), but your older than average books as well, sometimes I get tired of the same old technology day in and day out. Well apparently I’m not the only one, because one person decided that their scanner needed to blend in a little more properly within their home. Now that they finished their mod, it just appears that they always have the same old book laying out on their desk.

Well apparently I’m not the only one, because one person decided that their scanner needed to blend in a little more properly within their home. Now that they finished their mod, it just appears that they always have the same old book laying out on their desk. If you are tired of the way your scanner looks, this is one way to solve the problem. Datamancer took a flatbed scanner and put it in a book that they hollowed out. Choosing the book you use could definitely change the look of the mod completely. It’d also be one way to show off your personality and the types of things you love. From the looks of things this isn’t just a book he found at your local Barnes and Nobles, but one he made himself. You can see the various pictures of his progress on his website .
