Solar panels being used as back up chargers are nothing new. However, there are still a great deal of us that don’t have one. Be it due to lack of funds, not enough justification or even just not finding a design that fits your life. If you’re still just looking around to find that right fit for your gadget addiction, here are two more solar chargers from Ambientech. There is the SolarFold, as well as the SolarFan. Both of which would work just fine to keep all of your small gadgets up and running. Apparently these are the first of their kind, at least in one aspect. They are the first to use light-gathering spherical solar cells. Now whether or not that gives them enough of an edge above the competition to get you to hop up and purchase one is debatable. At the very least it’s nice to have a couple of different options on how these chargers open up. The SolarFan comes with a special tripod and both of them come with a carrying case. They became available last week and cost 22,050 yen or about $244

Absolutely no one enjoys cleaning up the yard after their dog has left several presents for you. It’s not just the manual labor. You’re taking time to clean up dog poop, which isn’t exactly a fun task. Well this gadget will at least keep you from having to crouch on the ground. If it makes an obnoxious chore just a little bit easier, it might be worth the investment. It has a vacuum that sucks up all of you pet’s droppings into a biodegradable waste bag. It is completely cordless and even if it dies, it has a 6 foot long charging cord. It’ll take a little while for it to run out of juice though, on a single charge it’ll work up to 150 times. When you purchase the 120V system you’ll receive 10 of those bags and after you run out you can purchase more of them in quantities of 50 for $19.50 or 100 for $35.50. You can purchase the Pet Pooch Power System itself for $99.50 through FrontGate

If you’re looking for something a little more awesome to store your small files on, thankfully Think Geek is always there to rescue you. Instead of going after some gray USB drive, get something that’s modeled after one of the most famous fictional weapons. Sure, it won’t be full sized and it won’t hurt anyone, much less kill them. It will at the very least make sure to keep your data safe though. This tiny lightsaber will only hold 1GB of your documents, so you’ll have to be selective about what goes on the drive. To use them you just plug them into the USB port like every other drive out there. Once you do plug it in, the lightsaber will begin to glow. This is another gadget that Think Geek has managed to get imported from Japan. You can purchase it for $19.99 .

In the middle of winter, offices and homes always seem to be horribly dried out. If you’d like a small refresher, then R2-D2 is here to rescue you. He’ll make sure that you won’t get dried out while you’re working your poor fingers to the bone at your desk. Sure he won’t work for your entire home, but he’ll at least come in handy when you’re sitting directly in front of him at your desk. Not so shockingly, this gadget is originally from Japan. However, Think Geek has actually managed to pick this one up, so you’ll be able to find it in other parts of the world. The tiny humidifier is powered by your USB port. Beyond that it’s pretty basic, just add water and plug it in. You can purchase it through Think Geek for all of $19.99 .

It would be nice if you could just carry around a personal masseuse everywhere you go. One that could drop everything and rub your neck at any time of the day. It’d be even better if it only cost you one small fee to do this endlessly. Unfortunately that is slightly unrealistic, but at least Panasonic has come up with a portable neck massager. We’ll call it a happy medium. This comes in grey, bright green and even pink. The pretty little neck massager requires a pair of CR2032 batteries to keep it up and running. The unfortunate side of the gadget is that it’s through Panasonic’s Japanese division. As of now it doesn’t appear that this is available anywhere but there. Hopefully it’ll find its way to other regions of the world though. Valentine’s Day is coming up quick and in light of that here’s one more cheesy heart-shaped gadget to go along with the lovey little holiday. This tiny heart will hold onto your iPod and play your favorite music for everyone to hear. Whether they like it or not. They even come in other colors besides pinks and reds. Alright, so it’s only one other color, but it’s something other than pink. As far as colors go this comes in black, red, dark pink and pale pink. The sweet heart-shaped dock will work with your iPod Classic, iPod Nano and even the iPod Touch. Beyond that it’s pretty much your average run of the mill iPod dock. Except this one is in the shape of a heart. Unfortunately it might be a little difficult to get one of these since it’s straight from Japan .

The image that you see here is from a short film called “Augmented (hyper) Reality: Domestic Robocop”. It is a short film by Keiichi Matsuda, a Masters student at the Bartlett School of Architecture in the United Kingdom. I think he deserves top marks for his effort to show us what the future could be like.

The rest is here:
Augmented Reality short film might be an accurate representation of the future, but I hope not.
I tend to catch a whole lot of teasing for the snail-like pace at which I tend to eat. I don’t exactly do it to eat healthier either, I just have always eaten slowly. However, I’m liking that there is a gadget that is meant to help people slow down their eating habits. Mostly so I have a decent comeback. In part though because I know eating habits can seem close to impossible to change. With this gadget to yell at you to slow down, hopefully you can get yourself to a controlled pace. The Mandometer was created in an outpatient treatment center for eating disorders in San Diego California. I suppose if anyone knows how to break eating habits, it’s them. Underneath of your plate is a scale that keeps track of those sudden drops in weight. Within 18 months the Mandometer claims to lower your BMI by 2 percent. Plus it’s meant to help you with long term changes instead of working like a crash diet

Those that enjoy working out do have their favorite way of doing just that. If that way is jumping rope, then this gadget would be an interesting addition to your household. This jump rope has an unexpected twist to make your life a little more eco-friendly. You can jump to your heart’s content and then you’ll have a little light after the sun goes down. It just uses all of that kinetic energy and puts it to good use. It even has a small screen to let you know how much battery life you’ve managed to give the flashlight. It also lets you know just how many times you’ve managed to jump over that rope. This was designed by Hyun Joo Lee and Eu Tteum Lee. Of course that does mean that this is still trapped in the concept stage. Hopefully sometime it’ll make its way into reality though
