Sometimes it’s just tough remembering to be careful about all of your energy consumption. There are those that are naturally great at it, but unfortunately we’re just not all that way. Well if you’d like to force yourself to change your ways, then this is one way to do it. If nothing else you’ll start to think about it when you turn on your lights. Either that or you’ll learn to move your fingers out of the way really quick.

We’ve discussed mind-controlled technology before, such as the Star Wars Force Trainer . A Toronto-based company named Interaxon has used mind control technology for how you really want to use it: to turn on the lights. Interaxon (see video after the jump) is having a special display of this technology for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Seen the new iPad and don’t really think that it will ever be able to replace your beloved Kindle? Good news for you then, as those who love reading late into the night in their bed without wanting to wake their partner up with the lights on can always settle for the Kandle LED Book Light , where this model comes with a new WideLip grip that was specially designed for a variety of ebook readers including (but not limited to) the Amazon Kindle and Sony Reader

I have never heard of the Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show, but I think it is just hysterical that it abbreviates to SHOT. It sounds like a fictional group in some anti-gun propaganda film. Anyway, during SHOT, a German company known as Armatix had a smartgun like I have never seen before.

I have a thing for book lights, but if I were being truthful I don’t really use mine a lot. It just runs out of batteries and I forget to put in new ones. Plus you’re only going to use it when you need a small light that isn’t going to disturb someone. Although that does happen, it still only works when you’re reading a book. This USB light will end up getting used a bit more than a normal book light. It comes with a dock that’ll allow for you to use it as a normal lamp.

There are times when it’d make life a lot easier if lights would just come on. Be it because you usually have your hands full in that area or any other reason, it’d just be nice. Now this little motion sensor won’t turn on all the lights in the room, but it will turn on a small light to help you find your way. Plus it could be used as a security device, so you’ll know if someone is moving around where they shouldn’t. This simple little light could even be used in other areas besides in your home. It could also be grabbed for when you go camping if you need some small lights to keep you from tripping over anything. On the light itself you can adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensor. You can also just shut off the light entirely. It runs on 4 AAA batteries which aren’t actually included. You can purchase it for $12

If you’re going to keep a small USB lamp next to your computer, then it might as well be a computer-themed lamp. This Esc key does exactly that. It plugs into your computer and offers a little subtle lighting to help you see while you’re working in dim conditions. Although it won’t point light directly at any paperwork, it’ll at least add to the lighting you already have. The Esc key works by just pressing down on the key to turn it off or on. It’s pretty basic stuff. Then to keep it powered, you just plug it into your USB port on your computer. As you might have guessed it uses an LED light to make it slightly more energy efficient. It measures 150 by 130 by 75 millimeters, so it is a decent size. While being small, it’s probably not small enough to make it travel friendly. You can purchase the light for $16 through USB Brando .
