People are always purchasing those silly little keychain lights. Most of the time they could barely be described as attractive or interesting. If you’re going to carry it as a keychain it should have a little personality. If you’re a big time photography or old camera lover, then this keychain could do double duty for you. It’ll show off your favorite hobby and the flash doubles as a handy little flashlight. Like most keychain flashlights, it isn’t going to have a ton of light. It will at least help you find where to insert your key when you’re fumbling in the dark though. To work the light there is just one press button that will kick it on and even make a shutter sound when it’s pressed. To keep it on you’ll have to hold down on that button. You can purchase one of these for $8 through Gadget Brando . Source: GeekAlerts Coolest Gadgets UK – For all your UK centric tech and gadget news.

Now this is the way to do it if you’re not big on the look of ceiling fans. Instead of spending a fortune on one just to get a trendy one, spend a fortune on one that disappears. Sure, the light stays right there, but those fan blades tuck away until you’re ready to use them again. With this you’re never stuck having a fan around at all times when you don’t need it. The great thing is that even when the fan is running, the blades are completely clear. With the blades out, they’re not going to draw a whole lot of attention to themselves. It doesn’t take a lot to bring those blades out either, it just uses a little centrifugal force. This features things like brushed chrome, frosted white glass and even a remote control. It is a bit expensive though. You can purchase it for $559 through Hunter. Source: OhGizmo Coolest Gadgets UK – For all your UK centric tech and gadget news.

Book lights are very handy for big time book lovers, but only every now and then. I don’t know of anyone that uses it on a daily basis. That often means that it gets forgotten in the bottom drawer and you leave it with a dead battery for far too long just due to not thinking of it. This Starlite USB Rechargeable Light has a little bit of an edge in that area. Not only does it function as a book light, but it’s also a desk lamp. Sure, it’s not a large desk lamp, but when you’re not using it to clip onto your favorite book it can be used for small tasks. Plus, I absolutely love that it charges up through the USB port, because it means that you’re not stuck remembering to make a battery trip. Beyond that it’s a very basic light, but it has all the best features to make sure that you’ll get a whole lot of use out of it. You can pick one up for $25 through the MoMA Store

Thankfully there are these tiny lights that don’t require you to do any wiring to get them up and running. Just hook them up and they’ll help you make your steps a little safer. They just sit in the very corner of your steps and during the day soak up a little sun. Then at night they’ll kick on all on their own. I doubt there is anyone left that hasn’t had to use their cellphone as a flashlight at some point or another. The bad thing about using your cellphone for that is that most of them the screen darkens after a short time. Plus it’s not exactly built to be a flashlight, so the light is a bit unfocused and doesn’t illuminate a whole lot. Thankfully, Think Geek has a very tiny flashlight that won’t require you to replace batteries, plus it’s incredibly portable. I’m not a fan of bulky keychains, but this one seems to be small enough to make it easy to carry around. Thanks to the attached keychain you could just attach it to your keys and always have it handy. The big feature with this tiny LED flashlight is the very small hand crank. You can purchase it for all of $4.99 through Think Geek

Most lamps are just that, offering light at the touch or press of a switch. Well, the iPod Lamp from Hammacher works differently, and as you can tell by its name, it will be able to play nice with an iPod thanks to its built-in iPod dock complete with speakers. This will definitely help you save whatever little space you have left in your cramped apartment (that’s the case these days what with a global population explosion)
